Strategic location: The Green Innovation Corridor connects key assets at the University of Wolverhampton’s Springfield Campus, Science Park, and the i54 advanced manufacturing business park – the country’s most successful Enterprise Zone. It also benefits from close proximity to Wolverhampton city centre and several key mixed-use developments.
Well-connected: The Green Innovation Corridor is already well-positioned to benefit from road, rail, and air connections that will enable growth and facilitate connection with key hubs across Europe and the world. Locally, we will improve connectivity between the University of Wolverhampton's Springfield Campus and the city centre, invest in rapid transport options along the Corridor, and maximise low carbon solutions through active travel and EV charging provision.
Energy infrastructure: We are committed to making the Corridor truly ‘green’, and are exploring the use of heat networks, heat capture and solar infrastructure.
West Midlands Investment Zone: The Green Innovation Corridor has secured Investment Zone status, alongside Birmingham Knowledge Quarter and Coventry and Warwick Gigapark. This places Wolverhampton at the heart of a nationally-significant innovation ecosystem, as well as unlocking transformational capital funding, business support and skills programmes.
At the Heart of a Transforming City
Wolverhampton is undergoing a period of major renewal. Several significant regeneration schemes are underway and in the pipeline, bringing new commercial and mixed-use developments plus nearly 5,000 new homes to the city centre. Green Innovation Corridor’s proximity to these developments makes it ideally placed to benefit, with the additional footfall generated by 11,000 new residents, plus increased investment and visitors to the city. Investing in Green Innovation Corridor therefore presents an opportunity to be part of something much bigger.
